Welcome to our special page directing you to information about our Parish Profile and the process to find the person God wants to be our new 'vicar.'
Our previous incumbent retired in October 2010 after 13 years as our leader. Since that time the church has continued its ministry and mission under the direction of the PCC, St John's Forum and a wider group of ministry leaders. Steve and I as wardens are extremely grateful for their dedication and service in this respect. Thanks too to the wonderful office and administration team who have shouldered much of the daily task management in the absence of a vicar!
As duly elected Parish Representatives we have also spent time carefully consulting the wider leadership of the church to compile and edit our Parish Profile. This has been recently updated to reflect our current position with our sister church St Luke's and with regards to our new Church Community Centre. We consider our profile to give a good representation of the values, ethos and vision of St John's in a concise document, that, rather than providing every little bit of information, provides a good flavour of what we are about in order to encourage those prompted by God to seek further.
The Profile can be downloaded via the link on this page. (Please note it has some blank pages that help to keep the format when printed double sided!) If you experience difficulties, then do please contact our church office where we can arrange a copy to be forwarded to you.
In consultation with the Bishop of Colchester and the Archdeacon of Colchester, (our Patron), the appointment will be as Priest-in-Charge pending establishing St Luke's as a Parish in its own right. This is a process which we expect to be completed this year but is still subject to further consultation. Thus, for the time being at least we are one parish with two churches. The profile is written as a St John's profile and for completeness should be viewed in conjunction with the St Luke's profile available from their web site http://www.stlukescolchester.org.uk. For further details about this and for application forms, please contact the Bishop's Office. All applications need to be made via the Bishop's office

We do hope this provides enough information to invite you to prayerfully consider St John's as your next place of ministry. We would be happy to provide more specific information should you have any concerns. Please direct them via the church office ( office@stjohnscolchester.org.uk). We look forward to joining you in discerning the Lord's direction for yourself and St John's in the near future.
