Cells are our network of small groups that meet midweek in people's homes and are relationally based. Why "Cells"? Simply because, just as biological cells are the basic building block of living organisms, so cell groups are the dynamic heart of our church life, through which we encourage one another to grow in our faith and to express it in our everyday lives.
We have adopted the honeycomb as our Cell logo because it captures visually what our Cell life is all about - a strong interconnected structure which mutually supports and grows as new cells are added. The honey produced in the comb speaks too of something valuable resulting from our Cell life - our groups are places where we aim to learn to experience and express the love of God.
We encourage every member of our church to join a Cell Group. Primarily these groups provide a place for friendship, encouragement and support. In a big church such as St Johns they enable everyone to "belong" where it can otherwise take a while to get to know people. Groups come in many shapes and sizes! Some meet in the evenings, others in the daytime, and while some consist of people at much the same life stage, others are very varied in their membership. You can decide which group you would like to join.
Our Cell values are at the heart of all we do in and through the groups they are:
- Belonging: everyone is included and valued
- Caring: for each other and our community
- Discipling: learning to live out our Christian faith
- Serving: each other and our community
- Growing: encouraging others to join us
