Cells are small groups that meet mid-week in people's homes.
They're called cells because we think they are the basic building blocks of church, just like cells in our bodies grow to form our whole person. We also like the idea that the cells are like a honeycomb, a strong structure produced by bees working together. The honeycomb produces nutritional honey to help the bees grow, and we hope our cells are a place for personal growth.
The groups are there to provide encouragement and support for one another. Everyone in the Church can belong to a Cell Group if they wish. Cells give people a place to belong and make friends, which can otherwise take some time in a big church like St John's.
Some groups meet during the day, others in the evening. Some contain people of different ages and backgrounds, others are groups of people at similar points in life. You can decide which group you want to join.
Our cell values are:
- Belonging: everyone is included and valued
- Caring: for each other and our community
- Discipling: learning to live out our Christian faith
- Serving: each other and our community
- Growing: encouraging others to join us
