From a Church of around 40 in 1980, St John's has grown to be a community of around 400 children and adults across 2 main congregations and has planted another congregation in a new development in the parish, which has grown to over a 100 members - St Luke's.
Having reached a 'ceiling' we began the transition to becoming more "Cell Church" in style some 8 years ago - the new mindset and way of doing relationally based Church is still in process.
St John's is committed to mission and our ministry is based on the Word and Spirit of God.
Our Purpose (why we are here) is to :
Celebrate together the presence of God (Worship)
Welcome all into the family of God (Community)
Teach believers to follow the way of God (Discipleship)
Reach out to everyone with the love of God (Evangelism)
Serve Christ and each other with the gifts of God (Ministry)
And our Mission is:
"To experience and express the presence and love of God at the heart of the community."
Our Church building was re-ordered and extended in 1988 and currently we are planning the complete redevelopment of our Church hall to further our mission in our neighbourhood.
Our Vision is to see St John's increasingly become more relevant to our community and town, by demonstrating the word and works of the Kingdom.
